(BUILD-A-DAY DISCLAIMER: None of the Build-A-Day computers come with an operating system, as many people have copies of Windows around their home, or prefer to use a Free operating system such as Ubuntu or Debian. This is intentional. In addition, no computer builds will contain monitors, keyboard, or other peripherals unless otherwise specified.)
This is again quite an improvement over yesterdays model, it offers the following changes:
- A faster processor - 2.4ghz dual core AMD vs 2.2ghz dual core AMD
- Better ram - 2GB of Kingston ram, of a faster clock speed, than the no name PQI used yesterday.
- Twice the hard drive space - a 160GB hard drive instead of an 80GB hard drive
- A dedicated video card, a Radeon 2600pro with dedicated video ram - this is a huge improvement over onboard video.
- A power supply that comes separately from the computer case - these are generally considered to be of higher quality
- LITE-ON Combo Black SATA Model DH-52C2S-04 $22.99
- BIOSTAR NF61S-M2 TE Flex ATX AMD Motherboard $44.99
- Rosewill RZS05 SLV Silver Computer Case $22.99
- EXCELSTOR Jupiter Series 160GB 3.5″ SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $45.99
- SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 2600PRO 100206L Video Card $64.99
- Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W Power Supply $39.99
- (2)Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory $39.98
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz Socket AM2 65W Processor $71.99
- Total: $353.91
But wait! There’s more! At least at the current time, NewEgg is running a promotion where you buy an AMD dual core processor you get your very own free AMD Phenom t-shirt - so you can advertise your singleness at a distance.
