$0-$100,000 online in a year

I recently came across a site that chroncicles a journey that almost eerily parallels my own. Its the ongoing blog of two people trying make $100,000 in a year exclusively online. While my goals aren’t quite that ambitious, we have many other things in common. Both PennyWisePCs and their venture are run by two ordinary guys - on PWPCs it’s Javan and I, on his site its him (Mike) and his friend Craig. You can read his story here, and mine up at the ‘about us’ link above.
The website is more than just a journal though, it also explores all of the techniques he is using to earn money. He started out as a freelance writer on the DigitalPoint forums, writing articles for 5c/word. This is pretty similar to how I’ve started - I write articles here for people, and I dabbled in freelance writing for other sites. In this section he goes farther in depth than I ever have about what methods he’s used to get clients and convert them into sales - and its a solid read. Check it out here
In another post, he explores the wonders of affiliate marketing. For those who might not be aware, affiliates are those who sell someone elses product in exchange for a percentage of the sales- - many people sell ringtones, ebooks and things of that nature as affiliates online, and several I know make over a thousand dollars a day doing it. I use affiliate links from Commission Junction in my build-a-days, but don’t worry, I’m not getting rich off of it - computer hardware is a very low margin industry, and I on’y get 1% of every sale. Here’s his post on the subject.
While the author of this site is only a few days into his quest to make $100k in a year, he seems to be off to a solid start - and even if he doesn’t make it, at least he writes about it in an interesting fashion. I’d recommend a regular read of his blog to anyone looking to get a foothold in the industry.
