Are you running windows?

According to my server stats, about 84% of you are. And if you are running windows, you need to be running an antivirus of some sort. Its not that windows is so much less secure than OS X or Linux, though it is, its that it has such a huge marketshare. Because windows currently controls about 90% of the desktop market, hackers can get much more bang for their buck by targeting Windows XP or Windows Vista than by hitting Linux.
Thus, the unfortunate situation is that if you own a windows box, than you need to invest in antivirus spyware. Fortunately, that doesn’t need to be a huge investment, you can get many quality antivirus(antivirii?) programs free. Check out free-protection.com for free Antivirus download and grab Ad-Aware or Spybot Search-and-destoy for antispyware. Be careful when downloading security programs, go with big names. Many savvy black hatters will create spyware masquerading as a security app in an attempt to lure downloads, and quite a few anti-spyware programs will require that you pay a fee to remove the spyware once it ‘detects’ it for you.
