This is by far the most expensive computer I’ve ever built. DDR3, 2 TB hard drive, 3.0 Ghz QUAD-CORE processor, etc. Total cost: 4,155.71
- Intel Core 2 Extreme 3.0 Ghz
- 2 x 4 GB Patriot DDR3 RAM
- 750 Watt Power supply
- 4 x 500GB Hard Drive
- 2 x 8800GTS evga

I’m afraid I’ve got to disagree with this. While the price might be extreme, the machine isn’t. A q6600 overclocked to 3ghz (what a real extreme gamer would do) is very similar to your $1000 processor at 1/4th the price. DDR3 is a gimmick at this point - there really isn’t much advantage. You’re much better suited spending your money elsewhere. Also the g92 8800gts is overrated in most peoples view. An 8800gt will preform almost as well for $60 less.
An extreme machine with SLI? Whats up with that. For this price, I would expect 3-way sli
Just my 2 cents.
I agree with you as a whole, I would never build this computer for myself. However, it really is one of the best you can get if price is no object, which it isn’t for some people.
A quibble:
DDR3 is faster than DDR2. Not incredibly faster, but somewhat. In a few years, it’ll be the standard - and if you just dropped almost 5 grand on a computer, you probably aren’t going to want to have to get a new motherboard in a few years to upgrade the ram.
